Lauren has been practicing architecture for over twenty years. Unique to Lauren’s practice, she endeavors to connect her work as an architect, designer and artist to her family and home life. She received her Masters degree in Architecture from The Catholic University of America and has since worked with Mitchell/Giurgola Architects, Kohn Pedersen Fox, and OPX where she worked on large scale educational and corporate projects ranging from offices for ABC News to award winning schools for New York City as well as university buildings for LIU and SUNY. She has been the founder of two successful firms in New York City, Redtop Architects and Lauren Rubin Architecture, both of which have focused on residential and educational projects.

Residential renovation and design has been the heart and soul of Lauren’s practice since its inception. Her base of expertise and knowledge of New York City building allows her to approach each project with confidence and creativity. Lauren’s experience includes the conversion of a landmarked townhouse with multiple apartments into a single family home, the renovation of a hotel into a family dwelling and numerous apartment combinations and renovations. Lauren also specializes in the design of kid-friendly bedrooms and playspaces that provide cozy, individual areas for children and still fit in with the overall character and design of the home. She knows how to solve problems, maximize space and fashion beautiful, smart living environments – real homes to be lived in and loved.

Lauren loves designing spaces for children.They have such a special relationship to their physical environment and their memories of these spaces last a lifetime. She is attune to the hopes of the child as well as that of the adults who will also use the space and excels at creating areas that fit seamlessly into the overall design of the home, school or commercial space.
