Located in the century old flower district, the newly restored loft space at 145 W 28 th Street spans 5,000 sq ft. and will house a decidedly more focused offering. By engaging in a more collaborative approach with an internationally acclaimed roster of designer’s, owner Stephan Weishaupt has focused on curating a truly unique experience where each piece is hand-picked and all contributing to a sensibility recognizable only as AVENUE ROAD. The concept was not to become yet another gallery, but rather to create a genuine, inspired atmosphere that clients will recognize as home.
Much of what is being presented in the new space has yet to be seen in North America. Highlights include Christophe Delcourt’s new Rue de Conde floor lamp, defined by its thin tubular silhouette and slightly offset linen shade. Christophe’s passion and experience with ceramic has also recently produced MUC, a series of hexagonally shaped side tables.
With their furniture collection for AVENUE ROAD making its debut in the U.S., Yabu Pushelberg will be unveiling new offerings. A new swivel variation of the popular Bond Street stool, upholstered neatly in an Alacantara fabric, accompanied by the new Beacon Hill Sofa, with angular lines and signature tailoring. Guests to the showroom will also be treated YP’s newly released designs for The Rug Company. Harnessing the unmistakable craft and quality people have come to expect; from TRC, Yabu Pushelberg’s Canterbury Lane and Serpentine Road reveal a soft elegance with a subtle detail.
The skillfully finished Figilio Sofa by Marcel Wolterinck, adorned in rich fabrics and lush leathers, pairs perfectly with his equally stunning Cevino Lounge chairs. Marlieke Van Rossum’s focus on solid French Oak, also commands a significant presence, lending credence to true craftsmanship and sustainability without sacrificing style. Old world joinery and metal accents reinforce this authenticity.
Complimenting the open floor plan is a large scale installation by Moss & Lam. The hand-carved ceramic panels pleasantly draw guest in while creating a subtle background for the various vignettes throughout.
