Dream Vacation home by Marshall Watson Interiors

Since founding Marshall Watson Interiors in New York City in 1985, Mr. Watson has developed a deserved reputation as one of America’s most prestigious design industry leaders. His company has executed projects throughout the U.S. as well as in London, Mexico, Sweden, and Tokyo. This article is centered on his dream vacation home project, designed by Marshall Watson Interiors.

Dream Vacation home by Marshall Watson Interiors, 1st picThis dream house was built on the island in the archipelago outside Stockholm. The main house was built in the 1970s. Also, there’s a guesthouse that was rebuilt, since it had minimal conditions to live and no elegance.

Marshal Watson designed the house based on the Scandinavian Style.

About the color scheme, you will hardly see shiny-white in Sweden. There’s a bit of blue in the green and a bit of green in the blue, and everything is softened with a touch of gray.

The colors are peaceful because they all have hues in common and they all have a similar value on the scale of light to dark. That transmits tranquility sense to the place.

You rarely see dark wood, because the main goal is to bring more light into a room. Floors are painted white. Curtains are sheer. And there are mirrors, to reflect the glow and double the sense of light.

Dream Vacation home by Marshall Watson Interiors, master bedroomIn the master bedroom, he divided the walls into panels, to accentuate them. He said that he “wants you to look at those angles, as opposed to pretending they’re not there”. Traditional Swedish patterns, like the checks on the bed skirt and the stripes at the window, are simple and airy and are a mirror of the Scandinavian style.

The guesthouse presents a more familiar pattern. Built in smaller dimensions, this cozy home looks smooth and peaceful. Blue and gray shade are well visible because this project was inspired in the sky and the sea.

As mentioned before, you can see the color scheme acting together, in a mix of a white-gray and blue combination.

The sun is also invited to enter the guesthouse, thanks to the big windows that let the place aerate. The curtains present a pale skin color, that goes really well with the vibe that this division transmit.
