Events in New York: Top Brands Showcase Design in Soho we dedicate for European culture, design and food lovers. This September The Lofts at Prince in New York City´s Soho district had held “Mercado 2017” – a Showcase of Portuguese Gourmet, Home Décor, and Architectural Design Companies.
Showroom & Rooftop Networking Event had brought together politicians, business leaders, top retailers, home decorators, design lovers, press people and the members of official entities interested into Portuguese design and food culture. Event is an initiative of the Associação Empresarial de Portugal, the primary business association in Portugal, moreover the showroom is part of a program of Next Challenge USA.
“Mercado 2017” Showroom & Rooftop Networking Event Opening quests had an opportunity to see numerous home décor, furniture, and architectural elements of the most innovative design brands from Portugal on display, including unique lighting brand Delightfull and Brabbu, who´s designers had created the furniture for “Fifty Shades of Grey”. More success stories? Guests of Mercado 2017 had chance to touch products of the ceramic tile company Revigres responsible for the black and white Estée Lauder´s showroom floors.

The event, held in prestigious Lofts at Prince in Soho, were visited by more than 90 American quests, starting with premium architects and interior designers from American Society of Interior Designers, Robert A Stern Architects, Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, Rand Luxury, Inc., Noz Soluri Architects, Caddell Construction, Michael Watkins Architect, LLC up to buyers and distributors such as Solex Fine Foods, Food Match, Gourmet Cargot, Philosophy Foods, Maitre Fromager, etc. The event was highlighted by High Times Magazine. Worth to mention that “Mercado 2017” was visited by the general consul of Portugal in New York Manuela Bairos, the diretor of AICEP for North America Manuel Couto Miranda, and general director of the Portuguese bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos in New York Rodolfo Lavrador.

Portugal is undergoing an economic renaissance fuelled by innovation in the country’s traditional sectors of seafood and other specialty foods. More than 30 of those specialty food products were presented in “Mercado 2017”. Moreover, a showcase guests had a privilege to participate in a cooking demonstration by Hélio Loureiro, acclaimed chef from Porto.
Premium quality Portuguese wines are in vogue now in all over the world and the guests of this food and design event had the privilege to taste true Portuguese flavors which each year conquer more and more wine lovers. No wonder why Portugal’s wine sector has also been growing by 15% year over year for the last five years.
