This space was originally built in 1996 and now covers 14,000 square feet, making it the largest Chanel boutique in the U.S.A! It’s five floors with an entire six-story facade composed of white printed glass panels framed by a thin black metal grid. It’s a very classic black-and-white “Miesian” facade, an homage to the Seagram Building.
This heaven on earth boutique has five floors filled with handbags, jewelry, eyewear, ready-to-wear pieces, perfumes… And everything emerging in an incredibly modern and sleek design.
Inside, 35 different artworks from 24 different artists can be seen throughout the store. One example is Jean-Michel Othoniel’s 60-foot sculpture extends for four floors. Crafted in stainless steel and glass beads by the French artist who created the new fountains at Versailles.
Peter Marino is the principal of Peter Marino Architect, a New York-based architecture firm founded in 1978. Marino has received numerous prestigious industry awards including 22 citations from the American Institute of Architects for architectural design excellence. He has already completed significant architectural projects and has been collaborating with Chanel for nearly 30 years.
