Perched just off the main road in bucolic Hotel in Woodstock NY – Hotel Dylan – is a modest two-story white clapboard building with all the trimmings of a chic home away from home: large, comfy beds, upscale bathrooms, stylish decorations, and a welcoming staff. Taking inspiration from the region’s hippie history, all 10 rooms are decked out with colorful furnishings, quirky accessories (our room came with a record player and Madonna and the Beatles on vinyl), and photographs of the legendary music festival. Rooms are christened based on these images: the Blue Balloon, the Van, the Band Suite, and the Levon, to name a few.
On the lawn out front, white Adirondack chairs circle fire pits; every day, a hotel staffer lights a fire at sunset, or guests can do it themselves. And a new on-premises pool is set to open soon, making it the perfect place for stressed-out New Yorkers to unwind this summer.
