Recent Design Projects in New York
[BDCK category=3 Keywords=”BB-product”][/BDCK]
From offices to eatery and urban escape designs, New York City has it all and these 10 recent projects in the Big Apple are to die for.
Claus Porto’s SoHo Store
Claus Porto, the Portuguese soap and fragrance company, opened a new store in New York. Designed by Tacklebox Architecture, the store draws inspiration from all Portuguese things: from the 42 feet long archway made entirely from Portuguese cork to the structure of Sao Bento train station in Porto.
An Urban Rooftop Refuge
A Midtown rooftop by BHDM Design featuring floor-to-ceiling glass doors. In the midst of ivy covering the walls and mirrored arches that reflect the city skyline, the outdoor space provides a gorgeous view of New York City.
21st Century Fox’s Marquee-Worthy Office
Gensler outdoes it with the headquarters of 21st Century Fox. Cedar, white oak and blackened steel are the focus words and trends spread throughout the glorious working space. Gensler transformed what had been a traditional workplace into a buzzing open plan that looks more downtown than midtown.
Sonic Union’s Manhattan Office
With tons of blue shades, Revamp creates a communal space (right past the reception) that gathers West Elm chairs, Blu Dot poufs and a Flor rug – all with the intent of complementing the faceted custom wall cladding.
East Village Eatery
Hunan Slurp, an East Village Eatery designed by New Practice Studio, catches the eye of everyone with its noodles inspired design. Also, to emphasize the strong axial directionality of the space, dozens of pendant fixtures in varying styles descend from the ceiling.
SoHo Test Kitchen
Versatility is the main word in this SoHo Test Kitchen designed by Float Studio. This space provides the sense of refuge and can be the greatest of options for all kitchen needs. The warmeness and sunlight weren’t enough for Barbara Giacoman (from Float Studio) and the solution was moveable islands and a flexible layout.
Storefront for Art and Architecture
A nonprofit Storefront for Art and Architecture with the intent of promoting discussion about the built environment launched the New York Architecture Book Fair to bring designers and readers together. Abruzzo Bodziak Architects are the creators of this symbolic space.
Nixon Peabody’s Contemporary Office
Nixon Peabody’s New York Office cultivates collaboration and transparency while speaking to its location. Perkins + Will captured it best and gave the office the contemporary salvation it needed.
“The intent was to create an office that was bold and unique to New York,”
– Arjav Shah (Senior Interior Designer).
Argo Group’s New York Office
Another office, another designer. Argo Group’s New York Office designed by TPG Architecture is airy and modular, with a great emphasis on collaborative areas.
“There was a lot of visualization, but we thought we could capture the rawness of what the area once was.”
– Michel Fiechter
Stumptown Cáfe
Brooklyn’s Stumptown Cáfe was designed by Jessica Helgerson and draws inspiration from the 60s former firehouse in leafy Cobble Hill.
“We took major design cues from the building facade, with its arched windows and beautiful classic details. Then we thought about what would make it a comfortable, fun place to hang out with friends or get some work done.”
– Jessica Helgerson
These are New York’s most recent interior design projects – many signed by some of the finest New York Interior Design Firms – and New York Design Agenda couldn’t just ignore the buzz around them.
