Kelly Behun Studio is an interior design firm based in New York City, specializing in the design of interiors, furniture and decorative accessories.
Founded by Kelly Behun, who is best known for bringing a gallerist’s eye to all of her projects, the studio provides a very unique hands-on approach through its customized produced environments perfectly tailored to each clients’ needs.
Kelly grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Shortly after moving to New York she joined Ian Schrager Hotels‘ in-house Design Studio where she worked with Andree Putman. In that time, she worked under Philippe Starck and was an integral member of the design team that created the Delano in Miami and the Hudson Hotels in New York City – to name a few.
At her own design firm, a hint of Schrager’s legendary style still shines through her projects, where great art and bold furnishings combine to brilliant effect.
Working with Kelly, clients are assured a highly personal experience with a great sense of collaboration and individualized service. Her gallerist eye – above mentioned – has Kelly use everything from bespoke furnishings and out of the ordinary designer pieces to offbeat accents and vintage finds.
Aesthetic relies more on visual and emotional appeal than style or provenance and Behun’s work speaks to this truth more than everything else. With deep connections to the art world, Kelly often seeks for new and innovative ways for clients to integrate art into their homes.
Kelly Behun’s portfolio includes mostly residential projects for high profile individuals.
And what is Kelly’s favorite room to design in a house?
Kids bedrooms, because they take me back to fond memories of re-doing my own bedroom when I was 13 and how empowering I found that to be.
