An award-winning design firm that specializes in architecture, exhibit design, master planning and graphic design, SKOLNICK has since 1980, provided these services to museums, visitor centers, corporate offices and residences.
Thriving for collaboration and building a process where sensitivity towards the beliefs of clients is valued and the story their visions becomes the guiding for every aspect of the project.
Over the course of the firm, hundreds of clients have achieved their goals and seen their unique visions come to life at the hands of the New York-based practice.
“Through design, we create meaningful places and experiences that enrich the lives and communities of our clients.”
The design approach is a unique one passing by four different stages: Listen, Learn, Distill and Create.
Great design projects come alive after a conversation. Working closely with each client, the team gets inside the clients’ mind as a way to successfully portray the vision, while respecting the core values of the project.
Researching for resonant associations that will help build the creative process.
Brainstorming is keyword for this step. With a concept already on the works, the team develops a unique story for the project in hands.
From start to finish, all features of the project are integrated to contribute to the final narrative.
“We unearth a project’s DNA, designing from the inside out. The result is a highly individualized and authentic experience.”

Recently they conceived the public spaces for the ground-up Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, where the moto was “good design is when it helps patients forget where they are”. On this particular project, Lee Skolnick and his team, along with Ennead Architects, NBBJ and the hospital’s own creative staff worked to create a theme that would be lighthearted for the patients.
“Our goal is to unearth the compelling stories that underlie every design situation.”
