The Innovative Shopbop Offices

Shopbop, the online retailer of women’s designer fashion known for its magazine-shop approach, was seeking an interior overhaul of their New York City headquarters which occupies two high floors. SHoP Architects, also of Manhattan, took the task by storm completely gutting then recreating an open office environment reminiscent of a feminine yet modern loft, complementing the philosophy of the brand.

They did a fantastic foundation of this minimalistic renovation is the perfected play between vintage and new, colorful and neutral patterns. The entire space presents us an overall rustic elegance with modern vibe. Raw concrete floors finished yet portraying rough imperfections, imposing white ceiling beams with exposed metal ductwork and coarse. An industrial loft with a touch of home.

Get the Look:

Beginning in the lobby/reception area, a curved white tufted sofa adorned with eclectic throw pillows elegantly embraces a pale wood tree stump accent table. It was the architect’s intention to devise these moveable “walls” to afford maximum efficiency and flexibility of the workspaces–dividing them when necessary, creating shared areas when not. How modern is this? Beautiful place to work.

An point-of-interest regarding the design philosophy is the integration of vivid orange–a signature Shopbop hue. Adjacent to the lounge lies the shoe closet, a fabulous nook with work table and eight metal stools. The bright tangerine glows in cubic displays both here and in the common area featuring lacquered white cabinet alcoves and an accent chair of the same color.

Indeed, the contemporary design of the Shopbop offices wears contrasting textiles, finishes and architectural elements that embodies an atmosphere where collaboration is welcome, creativity is eminent and inspiration becomes everything.
